Owner + Lead Photographer
She/Her
I'm the lady behind the lens at Onyx and Opal! When I don’t have my camera in my hand, you can find me having ridiculously goofy dance parties in my kitchen with my littles or partaking in a little retail therapy. I love going full glam for a night out with my husband, but often choose to snuggle up on the couch in my jammies instead.
I have this crazy ability to own the room and make friends with anyone I meet when I want to, but also tend to stay quiet in groups. Some days I have the desire to be completely on trend and others I just want my jeans and a t-shirt.
I'm pretty much a walking contradiction and I’m totally learning to love myself for that!
People! If you want to get me going ask me about anything mental health related and then buckle up- because after that I wont shut up!
Traverse City! It holds a lot of nostalgic value for me- it was the first weekend getawy with my hubby and where we first said "i love you!" It also offers all of my favorite things- beaches, vineyards and good food!
At 32 years old I received an ADHD DIAGNOSIS
... and now my whole entire life makes so much more sense! I like to believe that being near-divergent is what contributes to my laid back, optimistic personality! Its also helped me be brave in the risks I take, and I will always be grateful for that!
A GREAT PAIR OF JEANS
You know the kind I'm talking about. The ones that hug your curves juuuust right and make you sneak a peek of your tushie in the mirror before you walk out the door.
MY GREAT BIG HEART
Growing up, I spent a lot of time at my Nana’s house and she was an absolute saint. It was not abnormal for us to arrive to strangers finding solace in the comfort of her home. I absolutely credit her for my fiercely loving personality and love for advocating for every single human, regardless of differences. I will always root for the underdog. I believe in you wholeheartedly!
I have to be honest here. When I first started my photography journey I was too freaking nervous to get creative. I was memorizing poses and trying not to forget camera settings. After years of learning and experience, all of the technical stuff comes easily and leaves so much more room for creativity!!
